Building tools so that a story reaches someone: websites, digital exhibitions, archives, projects with students.
What I am building now, with classes and with associations.
with a final-year class · i15martiri.daniloaprigliano.it
A work-experience course that leads students to build a website on the massacre of 10 August 1944 and on the Milanese Resistance: research in the sources of the State Archive, biographical entries for the fifteen, an interactive timeline, a map of the places of memory, podcasts and interviews. Historical review is entrusted to specialists and to experts from the FIVL, the partisan veterans' federation; the web work is written by the students.
FIVL project · under way, not yet published
A project for the eightieth anniversaries of the Liberation, the Republic and the Constitution, authorised by the national anniversaries office of the Prime Minister’s Office. Secondary school students reconstruct the lives of women and men who helped build the Republic after the Resistance, and turn them into podcasts. The episodes are not online yet: the address will appear here when they are.
Centro Studi Circolo Caldara · daniloaprigliano.github.io/maipiupiazzafontana
A study day for schools on the fifty-fifth anniversary of the bombing, 12 December 2024, in front of seventy students of the Civico Polo «A. Manzoni»: I built the programme, called the speakers – the historian Elia Rosati, the jurist Giuliano Turone, the lawyer Federico Sinicato, the journalist Alberto Nerazzini – and opened the proceedings. The website, which I designed and wrote, holds together programme, speakers, videos and materials, and is the place students come back to before and after the meeting.
Since 2019, the work on the web and teaching side of a cultural foundation.
web and editorial
I built and edited the pages of the Scuola di Cittadinanza Europea, the Foundation’s teaching platform: six courses for schools (the twentieth century and the age of rights, fascism, active citizenship and the question of women, truth and fake news, science, sustainable cities), each with kits for teachers and multimedia content. Then the editorial work: newsletters, longform, digital specials and the pages that hold the initiatives together, among them the election special «Via col Voto».
digital exhibition design · risorsedigitali.fondazionefeltrinelli.it
Five exhibitions taken from the rooms to the screen, with the Foundation’s webmaster: Il Che vive!, La Polonia di Solidarność, Una storia europea chiamata Rivoluzione, La nuova frontiera americana, Cile 1973. I built the pages in the editorial system, wrote the texts introducing the photo galleries, checked the captions against the archive catalogue, chose the materials and the four in-depth pieces for each panel, assembled the chronologies and set the editorial rules so that the five exhibitions would speak the same language. The scholarly curatorship is other people’s: mine is the way the exhibition reaches whoever visits it from home.
The earliest work, and the projects I have kept standing the longest.
exhibition · scholarly curatorship by Antonino De Francesco, University of Milan · «Milano è Memoria» programme of the City of Milan · the university’s account
A contribution to the narrative structure, the writing of the texts and the curatorship: the exhibition was built by the students of the Public History master of the Statale and the Fondazione Feltrinelli – my own – under De Francesco’s direction. An uncomfortable centenary. It was shown in the courtyard of the police station in Piazza San Sepolcro, where the Fasci were founded, and then at Palazzo Marino, the city hall: two places that explain on their own why the public memory of that date has to be handled with care and not left to those who would celebrate it.
website and digital history · fiammeverdibrescia.it
The official site of the Catholic partisan formations of Lombardy: the narrative structure, the organisation of the content and the main texts are mine, under the historical supervision of Rolando Anni and Roberto Tagliani. It is the work my research on the autonomous Resistance came out of, later published in the Marsilio volume, and I have kept it standing since 2014: for an association of veterans and their families, an online archive that stops working is memory lost a second time.
digitisation and outreach · il-ribelle.it
The conception, design and development of the site that makes «il ribelle» readable – the clandestine newspaper of the Fiamme Verdi printed under the occupation: the original editions, the background materials and the teaching notes for secondary schools. A primary source that sat in a handful of archives, put into the hands of anyone with a connection – and of a teacher who wants their students to read what people wrote at the risk of their lives.
This work can be reached from other angles too: the websites are all listed in Web, with their addresses; the Marsilio chapter that grew out of the Fiamme Verdi archive is in Writing; the associations I made them for – the Caldara, the FIVL, «Hey Milano» – are in Civic work; the classroom projects are in AI at school. The full list, in date order, is in Everything; with dates and numbers, in the curriculum IT.
